Biography
Matthan Gori was born in Istanbul to a family of Italian origin. Istanbul's rich multicultural history has greatly influenced his way of understanding the world and his conception of aesthetics. His studies brought him to Italy where he graduated in Fashion Design from the Politecnico di Milano. He taught computerized pattern design systems at FIT New York's International Fashion Design Program, as well as the final synthesis course at Politecnico di Milano.
Matthan has realized several projects with well known companies in the industry including: Zanotta, Timberland, Jaeger-Le Coultre and Wella.
Matthan Gori's accessories and garments have been featured in: Vogue Accessory, Elle, Elle Spose, il Sole 24 Ore, Fashion Magazine and Luxury24.
2011
- presented his first Fall 2011 ready to wear collection in February;
- got nominated for the XXII Golden Compass young designer award and exhibited his Simplesso project in Macro, Contemporary Arts Museum of Rome in May
2010
- presented his first menswear jacket collection in collaboration with renowned Italian brand Stone Island;
- showcased a preview of his Spring/Summer 2011 Women's Collection at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
2009
- exhibited a wool statue on the occasion of the exhibit "Knit Human, a diritto e rovescio" in the Milan Triennale;
- displayed a bridal dress in the Milano Unica fair;
- started his fashion house La Maison DesignCouture Matthan Gori;
2008
- presented a project for Jaeger-Le Coultre in the monumental Palazzo delle Stelline;
